Streak ends at one

The Patriot traveled to Valparaiso last night to take on Victory Christian Academy. We weren't sure what to expect, as we were first told we were taking on their junior high team, and then we were heard that they only had one team, seventh to twelvth grades. Well, the team was definitely the varsity - at least if you measure varsity by length. Victory had two girls that were six feet tall or more. With the tallest Patriot about 5' 6", it looked like it was going to be a long night. And it was. After scoring the first basket, Victory outscored the Patriots 18-2 to lead 18-4 at the half. It was more of the same in the third quarter, with Victory scoring the first four points and leading after three quarters 24-7. Victory sat both of their tall girls for the fourth quarter, so the Patriots were able make it respectable, with Rebecca D.'s last second score making the final 26-15.

Michele D. led in scoring with seven (including the first CHESS three-pointer in history - thank you Mr. Referee). Kara B. made history by being the first to foul out (no thanks to Mr. Referee).

Our next game is January 3 and is another first for the CHESS Patriots - the first home game! Our home court is Elim Christian Services' gym in Palos Heights. The game is at 3:00 against Crossroads, another homeschool team.

New Games added to the schedule:
Friday, January 4 at 5:00 PM vs Home Run Kids of Gurnee (second home game!)
Thursday, January 24 at 4:30 PM at Southside Baptist
Friday, February 8 at 3:15PM at Home Run Kids of Gurnee
Friday, February 22 at 3PM also at Home Run Kids of Gurnee
