Well, we had heard that the Home Run Kids varsity girls' team is favored to win the Illinois homeschool basketball tournament, and last night we found that out in person. Well, not me exactly, as I wasn't there. But apparently everyone stepped up to take stats, so I have a lot of data.
What I heard was that the opponents had some skilled girls and some height. They have been playing together for three years, and that was evident in the game. The scores at the ends of the quarter indicated a steady pulling away by the HRK. They were as follows: 13-5, 24-10, 32-15, and the final of 44-21.
Stats are as follows: Mary had 11 points, Becca and Jackie four each and Michele with two. Becca led (again) in rebounds with 10; Mary had 6, Alyssa had five, Jackie had four and Michele had three. Michele had four assists, while Mary, Alyssa, and Kara had one each. Steals (new stat!): Kara with four, Michele and Jackie with two and Mary, Becca, Alyssa each had one.
Next game: Thursday, February 14 at Christian Liberty in Arlington Heights at 4:00.
